Joe Hurdle Top Dog Award; 2006 - 2007
Secretary of the National Field Trial Champion Association,
Inc., Dr. Rick Carlisle, announced the winner of the 13th annual
Joe H. Hurdle Top Dog Award at the drawing of the 108th Running
of the National Championship on Saturday, February 10, 2007. The
2007 winner was last year’s National Championship, Shell Creek
Coin, owned by R. W. “Bud” Moore and handled by Steve Hurdle,
both of Shell Creek Plantation, Catherine, Alabama. Shell Creek
Coin amassed a total of 3,333 points to the win the title this
year. The most points ever earned by any dog in the 13-year
history of the award. Bud Moore was not available to receive the
award, but Steve Hurdle graciously accepted the award on this
behalf.
The winning owner received a one-of-a-kind sterling silver
hatpin handcrafted by David Kelley of Somerville, Tennessee and
forged from silver provided by Mr. Hurdle’s daughters, Martha
McAlexander of Holly Springs, Mississippi and Jo Ann Fortson of
Panama City, Florida. Martha McAlexander was on hand to present
the award to her cousin.
