2014 National Championship
The 115th running of the National Championship was held on the hallowed grounds of the Ames Plantation beginning on February 10, 2014 and ending on the morning of February 21st. Thirty nine dogs were nominated, but only thirty eight dogs ran in the 2014 event.
Weather, often a major player in all aspects of the competition, was variable this year. The first week of running saw unusually cold weather with some ice, sleet, and light snow causing the cancellation of one morning brace. Week two saw generally milder temperatures but along with them came a stormy afternoon resulting in another brace cancellation.
Judges for this year’s Championship are Jim Crouse of Dixon, KY, Bobby McAlexander of Holly Springs, MS, and Dr. Rick Carlisle with the Ames Plantation.
