The second time was a charm for four-year-old Miller’s Speed Dial. His winning runs in the family as his sire, Miller’s Dialing In, was named National Champion in 2015. He made his claim to fame in the thirteenth brace on the second Tuesday of the trial. He totaled six finds—three in the second hour and three in the third hour. He is owned and handled by Gary Lester of Gracie, Kentucky who chalked up his fifth National title. Dial’s performance was disciplined; always deferring to Lester’s commands. He was dealing today and he was dedicated to the task at hand. His gait was deceptive at times when he was perceived to have tired, but it was only an illusion; he would not be denied. He was deliberate in his quest and he seemed determined to discover his quarry. Destiny and distinction were in his corner. He did not win by default, there was no debating the decision when Miller’s Speed Dial was declared the deserving 2020 National Champion.
